CTC’s Sugarcane Genetic Improvement Program uses the most modern available techniques. The program uses targeted breeding, regional selection, early selection for resistance to diseases and molecular markers. The use of biotechnology to introduce specific characteristics, such as resistance to insects, is already a reality in CTC.
Technologies from the Future
CTC also develops high-impact disruptive technologies in order to bring significant productive gains for the sugar and ethanol sector. It is the case of sugarcane seeds, which will allow substantial quality and productivity gains. It is also worth noting the production process of Cellulosic Ethanol, obtained from sugarcane bagasse and straw.
